How to use Incapsula to protect your Wordpress blog

In one of my previous tutorial I wrote about using Incapsula to protect your admin directory using the Incapsula's Login Protection 2 factor authentication service.

You can configure incapsula to use 2 factor authentication to prevent unwanted access to sensitive/important areas of your site.

The best thing about incapsula is that you don't have to add any code to your wordpress site or do any server side configuration which makes its installation very easy and bypassing it very hard.

If you configure incapsula to use the login protection on yoursite.com/wp-admin url, then everytime anyone will try to access yoursite.com/wp-admin then they will have to enter a second code which will be sent to your registered email.

Incapsula is not just for login protection it is actually a CDN Content Delivery Network like Cloudflare which makes your site faster and also saves your bandwidth decreasing load from your servers but Incapsula is far better than cloudflare in terms of protecting your site. It can stop all the malicious bots - spammers bots, many type of proxies before they even hit your server. It also provides hot link protection to save your server bandwidth.

They also provide protection from DDoS Attacks, SQL injection, Cross Site Scripting XSS Attacks and also from backdoors using heuristic analysis if you upgrade your plan. You can see the full plan comparison on their website.

How to Setup Incapsula on your Wordpress Site :-

To route your traffic through Incapsula Servers you will have to point your domain DNS to Incapsula Servers.

First go to Incapsula.com and register your account.

Then add your domain in your incapsula account. Incapsula will give you 2 IP and 1 Nameserver to add in your domain DNS configuration.

You can edit your domain DNS either through your domain provider panel or through your Cpanel.

How to Configure Wordpress 2 Factor Google Authenticator Plugin

In this tutorial I will show you how to use Google Authenticator plugin for protecting your wordpress site. This adds an extra layer of protection to your wordpress site admin dashboard. Now every time when you will or someone else pretending to be you will try logging in your wordpress site will have to enter a Second authentication code along with the username and password. Even if your blog has more than 1 author you can generate separate codes for each profile.

So First Go to Wordpress Plugin Directory and download the Google Authenticator Plugin or directly install the google authenticator plugin from your wordpress admin dashboard.

Now Download the Google Authenticator App for android from the playstore and for Apple devices from the Itunes Store

Now you must have downloaded and installed the wordpress google authenticator plugin and google authenticator app.

Now in your wordpress dashboard go to Users >> Your Profile as shown in the above screenshot.

Now scroll down a little and you will see the google authenticator plugin settings like this.

Check the Active Option Box

Relaxed mode is upon you. The code generated is based on the time so if you choose relaxed mode a generated code will be valid for 4-5 minutes in normal mode it will be valid for around 1 minute.

How to Install Wordpress on Cpanel in 4 Steps Installation Tutorial

In my previous tutorial I showed you how to install wordpress on localhost wamp server in this post I will show you

How to Install Wordpress on your Cpanel Hosting Account

Before we proceed to installation we will need a good cpanel web hosting I would recommend you to use Bluehost , DreamHost or Hostgator. All these web hosting providers are very well known for providing wordpress hosting to many pro bloggers. Their servers are specially optimized for wordpress hosting.

Bluehost , DreamHost and Hostgator provides 27x7 Live Chat Support.

DreamHost is the same hosting provider used by one of the most famous Indian Blogger.

With Bluehost you will also get a free domain and from Hostgator you can get your first month hosting for as cheap as $0.01 yeah I am not joking you can get hosting for $0.01 from Hostgator.

And lastly all these hosting providers offer automatic wordpress installation software like softaculous and fantastico  if you buy hosting from them.

Hostgator Hosting Coupon Codes:-

Code:
2014Coupon994offCode
this will give you $9.94 off
Code:
2014Coupon25offCode
this will give you 25% off from your total purchase.

Step 1.

First go to wordpress.org and download the latest version of wordpress installation files.

Step 2.

Extract all files from the zip folder you downloaded in Step 1. Now you have to compress the 'wordpress' folder' we just extracted.

The zip file you downloaded will be like 'Wordpress 3.8.1' (the latest version) when you extract it first time you will get a folder named only wordpress which you should compress and upload to your hosting server via FTP or directly from cpanel.

Doing Simple Blogging

Keeping everything Simple!

This is my first post on this blog. It is a part of my blogging experiment I will be adding useful content on this blog and rely only on organic + social traffic without doing any artificial linkbuilding.

Why I started this on blogger why not on wordpress ?

As I said it is an experiment blog though in wordpress you can do much more customization it also provides you much better control of your data than blogger. In wordpress everything is stored on your own server, in blogger everything is on the naughty google's server.

The only think I guess I will miss on blogger will be those fantastic wordpress seo plugins :(

What I will post ?

I will give back the knowledge the web has given to me in the last past 5 years. I've learnt many things since I started blogging on the webs.com to blogger to own website to forum from any different beautiful forums.

This post will remind me as why I started this blog.

So I think I should now end this post and post something more useful.
